The SteriPEN Water Purifier
As their website states, when you have a SteriPEN “you’re carrying hundreds of gallons of pure water in your pocket.” The handheld, portable, lightweight water purifier uses ultraviolet light to destroy waterborne microbes. Once you have this handy, health-promoting tool in your travel gear you’ll no longer have to worry about whether or not it’s safe to drink the water wherever you go.
What many travelers don’t know is that, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s own website, as of October 6, 2009, the “EPA does not have sufficient data to make broadly applicable, reliable conclusions about water quality on passenger aircraft.”
The water supply on commercial airlines as well as most private jets comes from public water sources, and on international flights it may come from foreign sources that are not subject to EPA regulation. While all airline water is considered potable, that is, suitable for drinking, it is not purified and may not be germ-free.
While the SteriPEN is recommended for military and camping use, it is equally essential for airline passengers and those traveling to countries where tap water, even in the finest hotels, may not be suitable for consumption.

Interesting, so long as you don’t object I’d like to refer to it in a post I am planning to create. I advise company directors in Tenerife and we are faced with unique issues. A few of the key factors being that we live on an island and so resident expertise, materials and goods all must be brought in from abroad. There are also a many bureacratic challenges that owners of businesses must deal with. Despite this it is a great place to live and thats a only an irritating inconvenience.
